I joined the company in January 2019 as a bookkeeper, and today I serve as General Manager and oversee accounting. I’m not a cannabis consumer myself, but working here has opened my eyes to the incredible impact this plant has on people’s lives. I’ve gained a deep respect for the industry, along with an up-close look at the challenges it faces every day.

One of my favorite parts of the job is connecting with our customers—we truly have some of the best people walking through our doors. And our team? Hands down some of the strongest, kindest, and most committed employees I’ve ever worked with.

Working in Ojai is its own gift. It’s beautiful, unique, and peaceful, and I feel lucky to come here every day. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity, especially because Jeff Kroll took a chance on me at a time when finding work at my age felt impossible. I fell in love with cannabis in Oregon and fell even harder when I moved home to Cali and I was offered the opportunity to become a Budtender. I never knew how much there was to learn or that I would realize one of my biggest passions is Cannabis. I love that there is always something new to learn and educate customers on. I love that while it gets you high, it is also helping with pain, anxiety and so many other things. Both the medicinal and recreational consumption feel like simple ways to connect with people. Greetings, my name is Bill and I have been with Ojai Cannabis / Shangri la Care since well before Prop 64 passed and the dispensary opened. I was the original delivery driver back when we were only allowed delivery service. I am now trying to make myself useful by handling the graphics aspect of the business which provides me the welcome opportunity to be creative. I have never worked with a finer group of people than this and what could be better than getting to do so here in beautiful Ojai.

Before meeting Jeff Kroll, I used cannabis recreationally and never gave too much thought as to the abundance of properties that this wonderful plant has to offer. I also hadn't paid much attention to the variance of effect between Sativa, Hybrid and Indica strains. I am now definitely an Indica person and some of my favorites are Northern Lights, Skywalker, Granddaddy Purple, Grape Ape and LA Confidential. My favorite source is Pressed Hash.

I’ve been with OCC for about a year, and I’m deeply passionate about sharing knowledge. Cannabis has played a meaningful role in my life—I used it to help manage side effects of chemotherapy and to regain my appetite during cancer treatments in 2005, 2019, & 2022. I especially love CBD for its therapeutic support; it has made a noticeable difference in my day-to-day life and has helped me do things that were difficult before. Paired with my physical therapy, CBD has been an important part of how I manage my Lymphedema, a painful and common challenge many cancer survivors face.

I truly enjoy the sense of community within the cannabis world and love the constant learning it inspires. I believe in tailoring support to each client’s individual needs and taking the time to understand their preferences. It’s easy to take for granted where you live, but I feel so lucky connecting with the awesome people of Ojai over a shared love of cannabis. From a classic pre roll to cancer fighting RSO’s cannabis never fails to amaze me.
